TMNT:
Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo are the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and they are ready to clean up the streets of New York City. Trained by their father/sensei Splinter, the turtles take to the streets to fight crime, mad scientist, and the Kraang. Though the turtles are young and have a lot to learn with their ninja skills as well as with life, they are a force of good that won't let anything stop them from doing what's right, not even Shredder.
T U R T L E POWER: Who is not a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fan? How can you not be one is what I ask you if you're not but in that case if you're not then you need to tune into Nickelodeon to watch this new animation featuring these turtles. Plot wise the show is pretty much the same as it's always been except for 2 big differences. In this animation the toxic sludge that turns the turtles into mutants comes from another planet instead of being man made on Earth and instead of Splinter being a rat that was turned into a humanoid rat by the sludge, he was a human that is turned into a humanoid rat. There's also the difference in that instead of him finding the turtles in the sludge, they were his pets and now he trains them to be ninjas. Well, the training them to be ninja's is also the same but now instead of just fighting Shredder, the mortal enemy of Splinter, the Turtles fight the Kraang, aliens along with other villains who pop up.
I've been a big TMNT fan since I was a kid with the first movie coming out to today. I've watched all the different versions of the characters, the good and the bad (oh yes there is a bad version) but this new animation on Nickelodeon is one of the best I've seen since the first movie. The characters still have their same attitudes, which make them all funny and fun to watch while we get new characters with the Kraang. With each episode I laugh more and more because of how the Kraang talk. Just the phrasing alone of these characters had me hooked on the show but with it taking what makes the TMNT so good and then adding more to it, this animation had me hooked before the end of the first episode.
Not only are the characters good, both the heroes and villains, and the animations are excellent. There's a great mix between having sharp edges blending in with smooth rounded edges with keeping a close eye on detail. This animation looks really sharp with the artwork and the colors that it could make some high budget animated movies look cheap. Each episode gives me what I want, the Turtles going out doing crazy ninja fights while Michelangelo gives his stupid jokes but at the same time the plots are following along with a story that is going somewhere. Instead of putting in the one bad guy that's beat in the end and then a new one with the next new episode, I was watching a story develop with the Kraang, while also getting that one villain. My only problem with this animation, it's only a half hour long and this DVD set is only 5 episodes.
