Victorious: Season One, Volume Two wraps up the shows first season. No parents, there won’t be more volumes popping up to take your dollar. In this second half of the series you get nine episodes, the cross over episode with iCarly, as well as a music video for Best Friends Brother and a behind the scenes featurette. Mind you, after reading complaints at the Amazon website and tracking down the episode air date listings from IMDB, yes, the episodes are not in order, not that it matters. The show is pretty much a lot of stand alone episodes and when it counts two parters are placed one after the other. Not really any reason to complain. You still get all the wackiness of the show with the ensemble cast that your kids love and a ton of great tween music in-between.
BOTTOM DOLLAR:
I’ve been pretty dollar conscious these days and I have to say that this particular release baffles me a little as both a consumer and parent. Why? Well, Season One, Volume One now costs a reasonable $11.49 at Amazon (new). Season One, Volume One contains ten episodes and a few bonus features. Mind you two of them are mere minutes long and hardly worth mentioning, plus a couple of music videos. Season One, Volume two comes with the same amount of episodes if you include the bonus feature episode and it also has the behind the scenes featurette and a music video as well. Its basically the same amount of content but Volume Two gets a bump in price at $14.99 (which technically is cheaper then Season One, Volume One used to cost). That doesn’t quite make sense to me. To add to that you can get the entire first season of the show on Amazon Instant Video now for $15.49. In any case you can see where I scratch my head. The price changes, uneven price tags, and price for the complete digital season is enough options to make your head spin. BOTTOM LINE:
Technically that’s not to bad of a price for the second half of the season, just a little perplexing in the whole scheme of things, especially considering that’s the base price for most teen shows on DVD anyway. My kids absolutely love this show and if I had to pay for them I probably would have done so regardless of price. Its the enjoyment your really paying for and it tends to come back to you by the truckload. Now to wait for Season Two to make it to DVD. Enjoy.
