Some believe the U.S. economy is on the rise, businesses are growing, more people have jobs, and the future looks good. Then there the Doomsday Preppers, people that believe the complete opposite is going to happen to the U.S. economy. When others are saving money so they can buy that next new car, the preppers build and save for survival when the world collapses and they have to depend on themselves and defend themselves.

SOLUTIONS NOT PROBLEMS:
In this episode of Doomsday Preppers we meet Jeff and Doug as they get ready for civilization to end. Jeff has bought a decommissioned silo to use as his base/home when the collapse comes. While refitting the silo to be a home, Jeff goes on a search for a woman who he can live with in the silo when the end does come. As for Doug, using his rock business he’s been able to build his family a underground bunker that should protect them from any attackers and keep them safe. Built using a old storage shed, Doug and his family will share the tight space with his best friend and co-worker as they live out the end of civilization underground.

It’s true, what was once unpopular is now becoming popular and it seems like what’s popular is the end of the world. I’ve seen some shows similar to Doomsday Preppers so watching the episode Solutions Not Problems was what I expected it to be, people talking about how they are getting ready for everything to fall apart. Watching this show I couldn’t really get a good idea if Doug and Jeff where crazy or not or just some really paranoid people that with the magic of editing are made to look a little more crazy. Then again I did watch a show where 2 men have spent a whole lot of money and put a lot of time into building underground bunkers for the end of the world. Throughout the whole episode I kept thinking to myself, what’s going to happen to these places if the end of the world don’t happen? Well, I don’t know because they never gave an answer to that question but they did get me to stay focused on the show. Even with it being a reality show that’s flaunting peoples beliefs on the future of the world it does have seem to be a little interesting.

Here’s what I think makes this show interesting and why people watch it, the people on it are so paranoid it’s funny. I’m not making fun of these guys, if that’s how they want to spend their time and money than more power to them but I think it’s a waste. And right there is the interest in the show, it can get you talking about it. This episode follows Jeff as he tries to find a woman to go on a date with that will have the same interests as him, which is the prepping, and then telling her about it on the first date. Of course you get what you would expect from a woman on a first date that has a camera there and the man just tells her that he’s building a underground bunker out of a silo for the end of the world. They also make the show a contest in a way, or at least that’s what I got out of this one episode that I’ve seen, where the preppers are given a certain amount of points for what they’ve built so far and then have some extra time to finish it to get more points. It’s an interesting concept and one that adds a little more to the show other than just showing what they are doing.
