It’s that time of year when we realize there’s not much of the year left to go. As we begin to look ahead to 2011 and all the Twi-goodness it will bring, let’s take a look back at Twi-awesome that has been 2010.

“Everybody likes to make fun of “Twilight” – adults, children, house pets – but the producers of the films threw a monkey wrench in the gears of the irony machine by stuffing the soundtrack to their latest effort full of awesome songs from ultra-cool indie bands. “Eclipse” is a who’s who of moody indie rock, featuring a lineup that would make Pitchfork’s brains explode: Beck, Bat For Lashes, Metric, Vampire Weekend, Muse, the Black Keys…the list goes on and on. Perhaps this all shouldn’t be surprising given that music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas made a name for herself turning television’s “The O.C.” into an avenue for indie rock exposure, but it’s still a very pleasant surprise to see the music from a “Twilight” film become the “Singles” soundtrack of the aughts.”

New Moon was the third biggest VOD (video on demand) film for 2010. According to Variety who reported on Comcast’s results,

“The second most popular pic on VOD was “Couples Retreat,” followed by “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” and “Hot Tub Time Machine.”

Coming in at No. 5 was “The Hurt Locker,” which made just $16.4 million in theatrical release. Though that Kathryn Bigelow film was released in 2009, VOD transactions were strong after its six Oscar wins in March.”

E! is having a “Celebrity of the Year” contest and guess who’s at the top? Rob & Kristen! They even beat out Beiber. Guess Beiber Fever has nothing on Obsessive Cullen Disorder. Which TwiStar will win this annual battle? Go vote for your favorite at E!

ET’s Pop Culture Movements list has kept track of Twilight & the TwiStars. Look at what’s been going on this past year!

‘Valentine’s Day’ (February 12) –Director Garry Marshall’s ensemble romantic comedy may have fizzled at the box office like a bad date, but all eyes — and tabloids — were on cute couple Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner, who dated briefly as a result of working together.

‘Remember Me’ (March 12) – Coming off the strength of his first two ‘Twilight’ hits, Robert Pattinson’s serious turn in this romantic drama got more press than box office for the film’s somewhat controversial 9/11 twist ending and the fact that most Twi-hards kept their distance.

‘The Runaways’ (March 19) – Coming off the strength off her first two ‘Twilight’ hits, expectations were high for Kristen Stewart’s turn as Joan Jett in this rock ‘n’ roll biopic of the all-girl ’70s band. Again, most Twi-hards kept their distance. On the plus side, former child star Dakota Fanning finally came into her own with her adult role as rocker Cherie Currie.

‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ (June 30) – Twi-hards continued to line up in droves, beginning with midnight screenings, to drink in the third chapter of the Stephenie Meyer vamps vs. werewolves saga this summer. The world got plenty of shirtless shots of Taylor Lautner, not to mention the big-screen ‘Twilight’ parody ‘Vampires Suck.’”

MTV talks about how Twilight conquered all media in 2010 and how it won’t stop and can’t stop in 2011

"New Moon" had hit theaters only several months before, but "The Twilight Saga" started 2010 off with a bang when there was reportedly some drama between Stephenie Meyer and Summit Entertainment over "Breaking Dawn," though the "Twilight" author quickly dispelled that rumor. That was followed closely with producer Wyck Godfrey's announcement that "Breaking Dawn" was gearing up to film the coming fall. We were all holding on to every will-they-won't-they rumor (3D? CGI Renesmee? One or two films?), and it took the majority of the year for any of those questions to be answered.

While we waited for more "Breaking Dawn" news, Summit announced the "New Moon" release date and two "Twilight" stars went from dating to engaged. In February we learned that we'd get a trailer for "Eclipse" before RPattz's other film "Remember Me," and found out why Robert is bothered.

A month later we got a teaser for that trailer, and then had to wait six days until we got the full-length version. We were all pretty thrilled when we found out the trailer showed Bella's engagement ring, but that was nothing compared to the excitement we felt when Stephenie Meyer announced she was releasing a novella about Bree Tanner.

While all that was unfolding, there were still a lot of questions being asked about "Breaking Dawn." Three directors had been short-listed for the job, and the stars were pretty excited about them. On April 28 director Bill Condon was chosen for the honor. Bill convinced fans he was the man for the job by writing them a letter, and anofficial release date announcement came soon after. Hello, November 18, 2011!

But we weren't the only ones with "Twilight" fever; Oprah caught the bug too! First she premiered an epic new "Eclipse" trailer and then showed some lucky fans an early cut of "Eclipse". Audience members gave us the inside scoop on her special "Eclipse"-themed episode, too.

There was more "Breaking Dawn" drama when rumors hit the web that Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz might not be returning for the final "Twilight Saga" film, but those were quickly resolved. And, with a month left until "Eclipse" hit theaters, the soundtrack listing was finally revealed. As if we couldn't get any more excited for the film, it was announced that Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner were going to be presenting a new clip from the film at the MTV Movie Awards, and we totally loved it when they did. It helped that "New Moon" swept the awards show as well.

By the time June finally rolled around, we had two things to look forward to: "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner" and "Eclipse." We camped out all night for both, and both surpassed our expectations.

With "Eclipse" out, all the focus could now shift to the final film in the "Twilight" series. Or rather, two films. "Breaking Dawn" was announced as a two-parter and the second half would be released on November 16, 2012. Wyck Godfrey also leaked that Robsten are totally an item, and we found out "Twilight" could be the most successful film franchise ever, on top of the fact that vamps havemade $7 billion since 2008.

Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg hinted that there might not be a birthing scene, but she quickly retracted that statement and instead started talking about all of "Breaking Dawn"'s new vampires. There are a lot of them, and they're pretty much all cast by now. Unfortunately, James Franco wasn't one of them. But the most important casting announcement was that 9-year-old Mackenzie Foy would play Bella and Edward's daughter, Renesmee.

"Breaking Dawn" filming is now underway, and we've seen awesome paparazzi pictures of Bella and Edward's honeymoon and the Volturi hanging out. Of course, we also found out why Bella is covered in feathers. The "Eclipse" DVD release got us looking forward to a whole new year of "Breaking Dawn" news as we count down the next 11 months until the first film hits theaters. After all, there's soundtracks to be announced, awards shows to sweep and relationships to cross our fingers for in the meantime, and probably lots of "Twilight"-related fodder we can't even begin to anticipate.

Chaske talks with Just So You Know about Breaking Dawn and Summit’s plans to prevent script leakage

After the holidays are over, it will only be a few more weeks until he's fully back in 'Twilight' mode. The 35-year-old will head up to Vancouver in February to begin shooting 'Breaking Dawn' and stay until March. Even though it's not that much longer until he's shape-shifting again, Chaske admits that he hasn't received a script yet.
"What they do is they'll wait because scripts have been leaked. Not 'Breaking Dawn' but in the past. Then you get it and it's like security guards and helicopters. You know, handcuff it to your wrist," he jokes. We think.

Jacob's other buds Leah Clearwater (Julia Jones) and Seth Clearwater (BooBoo Stewart) have already been to the set. "They had a blast, they had a great time," Chaske says. "It's such a big cast...the vibe from what I understand is back to the party, back to working. It's a fun set."

With so many new vampire covens coming into the picture this time around, Chaske feels like an abs-olute pro at this supernatural stuff. "There's a whole new cast coming in. It's weird. Now I feel like I've done my time in college, so I feel like a senior. The new class [is coming] in."

Does that mean he's psyched with Summit's decision to split the book into two movies? "Oh, hell yeah!" We figured he'd say as much.

"The experience I've had with the cast is everyone's down to earth. That's what I like. I've been on some films where people aren't very down to earth... I think very highly of [Kristen] and Taylor and Rob. They're handling it very well."

Chaske has just one suggestion for the filmmakers -- skip the 3-D, will you?

"It's my understanding we're not (doing 3D), but then after we're done filming they might change their mind. I have no idea. 3D's meant for certain movies, but for this one I'd say no. It's just my personal opinion."

Christmas stories happen in the most everyday places. I was part of one not long ago at the grocery store. I hope I never forget it, though the memory is bittersweet.

I had been shopping for almost an hour by the time I got to the checkout lines. My two youngest sons were with me, the four-year-old refusing to hold onto the cart, the two-year-old trying to climb out of the basket and jump down to play with his brother. Both got progressively whinier and louder as I tried to keep them under control, so I was looking for the fastest lane possible. I had two choices. In the first line were three customers, and they all had just a few purchases. In the second line was only one man, a harried young father with his own crying baby, but his cart was overflowing with groceries.

I quickly looked over the three-person line again. The woman in the front was very elderly, white haired and rail thin, and her hands were shaking as she tried unsuccessfully to unlatch her big purse. In the other line, the young father was throwing his food onto the conveyor belt with superhuman speed. I got in line behind him.

It was the right choice. I was able to start unloading my groceries before the elderly woman was even finished paying. My four-year-old was pulling candy from the shelf, and my little one was trying to help by lobbing cans of soup at me. I felt I couldn’t get out of the store fast enough.

And then, over the sound of the store’s cheery holiday music, I heard the checker in the other line talking loudly, too loudly. I glanced over as my hands kept working.

“No, I’m sorry,” the checker was almost shouting at the old woman, who didn’t seem to understand. “That card won’t work. You are past your limit. Do you have another way to pay?” The tiny old woman blinked at the checker with a confused expression. Not only were her hands shaking now, but her shoulders too. The teenage bagger rolled her eyes and sighed.

As I caught a soup can just before it hit my face, I thought to myself: “Boy, did I choose the right line! Those three are going to be there forever.” My mood was positively smug as my checker began scanning my food.

But the smiling woman directly in line behind the elderly lady had a different reaction. Quietly, with no fanfare, she moved to the older woman’s side and ran her own credit card through the reader.

“Merry Christmas,” she said softly, still smiling.

And then everyone was quiet. Even my rowdy children paused, feeling the change in the atmosphere.

It is crazy how much

It is crazy how much "Twilight" stuff there is. And how popular the actors are. I love the books, but I'm not such a fan of the movies. We visited Forks, and the whole town pretty much consists of "Twilight" gift shops. The man that worked there said they get people from all over the world, and you can barely walk through the store during the summers. Absolutely crazy considering that the only way to get there is a 6 hour drive from Seattle.
