The CW is looking for another Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
The youth-skewing network has given a script order to supernatural drama Embrace, based on the book by Jessica Shirvington.
The hourlong project is based on the author's young-adult novel and revolves around twentysomething Violet Eden, who discovers that she's half angel and the key to a centuries-old war between fallen angels and their earthly protectors.
Bill Laurin and Glenn Davis are on board to write and executive produce the effort, which hails from CBS Television Studios. Amblin Television's Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank are also on board as executive producers.
Embrace joins the similarly themed supernatural drama Copeland Prep in the network's development pipeline. The Bret Easton Ellis and Fake Empire drama revolves around students at a secondary school so competitive that they're being turned into monsters and spreading the ramifications throughout the town. Twilight's Catherine Hardwicke is on board as an executive consultant. The network also is developing Amazon, a Wonder Woman prequel.
The CW has found success with The Vampire Diaries and other sci-fi fare, including Supernatural, which returns for its eighth season next month.
