New S Shield New Spiderman Toon Cool Spidey Covers and Character of Week 14

I just wanted to start this weeks blog off with showing the new Superman shield for the newest movie coming out June 14, 2013, Man of Steel.. It’s got a updated design giving it a darker look to it and it’s sure to upset fans but me I really like it. The core symbol remains the same in it but now it just has a more realistic look and feel to it. Also, for a little bit more fun, the official Facebook page for the movie has been activated

And if just the symbol is not enough for you here’s a look at the full suit, which has been on the net for awhile now.

Still though, I’m a little iffy on the look of the new Superman. I know that once the movie comes out there will have been some major work done on the colors and other aspects to make it look different. Again, I’m just iffy on the look.

APRIL 1, 2012 SUNDAY  11:00AM AND 11:30AM DISNEY XD:
What’s so important about that date? It’s the premiere of the newest animated series starring my favorite friendly neighbor Spider-Man, Ultimate Spider-Man. This has more going for it than just being another Spider-Man animation. First off the story plot has Spidey joining S.H.I.E.L.D., which is actually pretty cool I think especially if they try to follow along with the flow of the comic Ultimate Spider-Man. Which leads me to point number two on why this will be a good animation, Brian Michael Bendis and Paul Dini. Both of these guys are really good writers, and considering that I’ve been reading Brian Michael Bendis for many years now I can’t wait to see what he will bring to this new Spider-Man. With the talks I’ve read Nova will also appear at some point on the show or possibly be on it as a supporting character because he will join S.H.I.E.L.D. as well. Don’t matter though cause this is a new Spider-Man show that I’m really stoked about watching.

COOL COVERS OF THE SPIDER:
Here again for the countdown towards Spidey turning the big 50 I’m going to show some of the really cool covers that have been given to us on Spider-Man titles.
First up is the most heart-wrenching, coolest, and has absolutely nothing on it.
Amazing Spider-Man #36 the issue that dealt with 9/11

Amazing Spider-Man Annual 21 the wedding of Peter and Mary Jane

I love this one, it just oozes coolness Amazing Spider-Man 316

Another cool black suit cover and a Spider-Man #1 I actually own Web of Spider-Man #1

This one is one of the coolest I’ve seen in the last few years Amazing Spider-Man 679.1

But coming in cooler than that one is one closer to it but more heartfelt and has MJ and one I might actually try to have made into a poster it’s so cool Amazing Spider-Man 641

Another simple cover but the art is so powerful Amazing Spider-Man 655

And last cool cover and this one means the most to me, this is the first Spiderman comic I remember reading and I also still own it, Amazing Spider-Man 272

CHARACTER OF THE WEEK # 14
Bone

There are very few comics that when I pick up that first one not only do I instantly like but I instantly love and can’t get enough of. I’ve read the whole Bone series, multiple times, each time it just gets funnier and funnier. I’ve spent countless hours going through the pages of my omnibus of the Bone series looking for artwork that I can make my own copy of just because the character is so cool.
If you want a title to read that has everything, I mean everything, that makes a great story than Bone is the one to read. A must read in fact. He’s funny, he’s loveable, he has more character in one panel than some titles have in the whole issue, and the supporting characters are just as important and good as he is. Which I’m sure one will make it on this list as well but this list it’s Bone. For the one liners, the paper bag hat, the looks he gives when Thorn is around (and if I was in his place I would be doing the exact same thing), and for so many reasons Bone is great. Jeff Smith created a character that I think should be one of the best around and one that is worth lasting through many years, just too bad we don’t get anymore of Bone.
