Marvel Gets Legofied While Doomsday Hits New 52 and Man of Steel

NEWS HAPPENING IN THE COMIC BOOK WORLD:
Once again Marvel does what Marvel does best, variant covers. With the upcoming release of a new Lego Marvel Superheroes video game in September, Marvel will be releasing more variant covers. This time the covers will feature Lego variants, which don't get me wrong, some of my most liked cover art comes from variant covers, but they also come with a hefty price tag. On occasion you can get a variant cover under $20, on some very rare times you can find a variant cover at cover price, but 9 out of 10 times the variant covers that have the best art will be the most expensive and hardest to get. I don't know if this will be true for the Lego variants because I've only seen one cover but once they start releasing the covers I'll try to find out if I will actually want any or buy any.

DC has another teaser image in their “What's New in the New 52” area on the site and this time it features Doomsday. Though I got to say this new look for Doomsday looks like crap. What where they thinking when this image came across the desk? His arms are nearly the height of his body as well as being the size of his body and he has shoes on. Excatly when does a monster that's supposed to be so evil, so powerful, and so set on killing decide to take the time to sit down to put on a pair of shoes? In fact, why would he put on some shoes? He's strong enough to beat Superman so I'm thinking he's not worried about a few pebbles on the ground. If this is how he's going to look I think he's better off left not coming back.

COMICS IN THE MOVIES AND TELEVISION:
As I was messing around on the net the other day being bored and not knowing what to look at I came across an article about Man of Steel. Actually, it wasn't for Man of Steel, it was for Man of Steel 2. That's right a sequel has already been given the green light for a movie that hasn't been released yet, well, at least as of the time of this writing it hasn't came out but as you read this it is now out. But the point I'm making is this, before the movie was released a sequel was already given the green light to be made. Now I'm thinking and hoping that this newest version of Superman is going to be great but I've been wrong before but great, good, or bad, this movie will bring in the money and that's enough for Hollywood to bring out another movie. Now, I end this cause I actually do have to go buy my midnight showing ticket for Man of Steel.

Speaking of Man of Steel, let me talk about the movie that just came out. Don't worry I won't spoil anything about this movie I am only wanting to say that I went to the midnight showing of this movie and was very please. Disaapointed too, but that's for another reason. If you want a movie that has a good story, one with emotions, while also having action sequences that will make you wish you had those powers, then you will be pleased to know this is what you get. I thought Russell Crowe was bad choice for Jor-El but he gives a good performance as the father but so does Kevin Costner. Both have that harsh side that a father has but one of love and care for his child. But what I liked the most about this movie was that the action scenes look like the kind used in animated movies only it's live, well kind of, considering CGI is not life but you get my meaning. This is a really fun and good Superman movie.

EVER FAILING TREATMENT OF SPIDER-MAN CONTINUES:
SPOILERS FOR AVENGING SPIDER-MAN #22
WARNING SPOILERS

Has it become old news, possibly the word annoying could be used, of me talking about what's going on in the Spider-Man book? If so I just don't care because I'm still going to talk about it cause it's one major sore point for me. With this past new comic day Wednesday, Avenging Spider-Man #22 had it's final issue released wherein the Punisher makes an appearance. Now I know that cover art shouldn't ever be taken seriously, at least not to the point of it showing what is actually going to happen in the issue. Most of the time the cover art can be considered like a trailer for a movie where certain scenes in the trailer was shot just for the trailer and not for the movie. Same goes for the cover, it's drawn just for the cover and nothing else. Sure they will give us readers an idea of what to expect in the issue but it won't actually happen.

In this case the cover shows Spider-Ock's back facing us while he looks at Punisher (facing towards us) where the two look like they are about to have a shootout with guns for the Punisher and webs for Spider-Ock. Add in the talk that this issue was given that I read, I expected this face off to be one of the first that has a character realize that something is not right with Spider-Man and that this is quite possibly not the same Spider-Man as before. I was thinking that the Punisher would realize this but because this Spider-Man has killed a criminal and is beating the others nearly to death, that the Punisher won't care that this is not the Spider-Man he has faced in the past because he likes this new one. Which kind of is what happens, minus the fact that he don't realize anything other than Spider-Ock has crossed a line. Well, whop-de-do I could care less. This was a very disappointing issue for me and just one more to stack up with the ever failing treatment of Spider-Man.
