Twilight Thursdays! Vol. 1 Issue 35

You might not remember, but before Twilight became the multi-billion dollar success that it is, the film rites languished with more than one studio and the classic was reimagined as an action flick with FBI hunting the Cullens. The Twilight that almost, but thankfully never, was:

Twilight producer Mark Morgangave HollywoodLife.com the exclusive scoop at the LA premiere of Nikki Reed’s new film, Last Day of Summer, Sept. 22. “I actually found the material originally and then [sold it to MTV] and then sold it to Paramount,” he confided. “Lo and behold, six months later, after we chose a writer [Melissa Rosenberg], we did a draft and [Paramount] put the project in turnaround.”

Mark noted that it was hard finding a buyer for the script — believe it or not, nobody wanted it! “We went shopping to every studio around, but everyone passed,” he told us. “Every studio passed! Finally [Summit] said ‘let’s do it.’ It was a total blessing that Summit [chose to do the movie], because frankly, Paramount would have chosen a different director [over Catherine Hardwicke]. Their rewrite wasn’t exactly like the book.”

“They wanted to go more with an action movie,” Mark explained. “They had Bella [Kristen Stewart] fighting back. They had her father dying in one of the scripts, actually, and her becoming a vampire in the first movie. There were a lot of weird things that I don’t think they understood at the time, because the books were just becoming popular. By the time [the script] got to Summit, they were smart enough to say ‘You know what? Let’s throw out all the old scripts and let’s start from scratch.”

“[They wanted to change] everything,” he confirmed. “Ironically, I love Paramount, but I do not think they would have hired Catherine, our first director. They would have gone for someone bigger. Boys. More action. I mean, one of their drafts literally had a Korean FBI agent who was hunting and tracking vampires across the coast. There was SWAT in the trees and literally it was like, ‘Red leader, read leader 1′ and the vampires were picking them out of the woods. It would have been a different movie.”

Mark is well aware of what could have happened to Bella, Edward and the Cullen clan — and he’s only too happy that things worked out the way they should have! “[The fans] would have killed us,” he acknowledged.”They would have stoned us.” {newmoonmovie}

Can you imagine?! It seems like they had no idea what Twilight was at all! Sometimes you have to know when to say when!

Bits of Breaking Dawn
One thing I’m loving about these early days of Breaking Dawn are all the casting rumors! Now Irina has been cast & it looks like Renesemee also!

EXCLUSIVE: Maggie Grace will play a new vampire threat to Kristen Stewart's Bella in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. Grace, who played Liam Neeson's in-distress daughter in Taken, will play the role of Irina in the final installments of the Stephenie Meyer novel, which director Bill Condon is directing in two separate films.

Irina is a member of the Denali coven, considered cousins to the Cullen clan as the only other "vegetarian" vampire group. When Irina blames the Cullens for the death of her lover, her actions set in motion a terrifying chain of events

As any Twilighter will tell you, while the destruction of Laurent may have been the match that lit Irina’s despair and anger, it was the site of Renesemee that really made her burn. Irina, believing with little evidence, that Renesemee is an immortal child; a child turned into a vampire. This is against vamp rules, so she immediately reports the Cullens to the Volturi. And the Volturi are all too willing to help her.

But who will play the child that Irina spies?
According to Entertainment Weekly, Mackenzie Foy will play Bella & Edward’s love vamp baby.
little 9-year old Mackenzie Foy is inches away from signing on to play Renesemee, Edward and Bella’s vampire/human love child that’s a central role in the final installment of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.

It’s not yet clear how the diminutive actress, who’s appeared in one episode each of television shows Flash Forward and ‘Til Death, will portray the character who ages a full 17 years in only seven. Sources have suggested that director Bill Condon will employ similar digital effects to those used by David Fincher in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, where Foy’s face would be digitally transferred onto the face of a younger child. It’s also probable that the studio will hire a younger child in some capacity, too.

Summit Entertainment is remaining mum on the issue. But to see Foy’s angelic face, which could very well be the offspring of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart

I’m still interested in how they’ll show Renesemee as a baby. The technology used in Benjamin Button would work in amazing ways, considering that in the book, she’s born with a full set of teeth.

Glamour has declared Robert Pattinson as the Best Dressed Brit of 2010. While we know RPattz cleans up remarkably well:

When he’s not on set or doing promotions for his films his style is…less than fresh. Most of the time Pattinson’s look is scruffy at best:
so how he came by this award baffles me. {robertpattinsonlife}

Wow, check this out! An Eclipse themed maze!

If you want to experience the maze for yourself, pack your bags for the Black Island Farms of Utah.

This year’s maze features the likeness of Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart of the “Twilight” movie series. Those attempting to find the one exit from the more than five miles of twists, turns and dead ends likely will spend more than an hour to make their way out. Anyone smart or lucky enough to make the correct decisions may be able to complete the task in 15 to 30 minutes.
You have until October 31st to get lost in Eclipse! {eclipsemovie}

Twilight is finally hitting the small screen. Showtime began airing the first movie in the saga earlier this year and will debut New Moon on January 8, 2011. But what if you don’t have the big bucks to pay for Showtime? Don’t worry! The saga is coming to regular cable via the FX channel which will begin airing Twilight in 2011. {examiner}

Stephenie Meyer made The New Statesman’s “50 People Who Matter” list coming in at number 28. In order to make the list, one must “…have world-changing potential. And they are new entries in our annual list of the individuals who have global influence – for good or ill.”
Unfortunately it seems like Meyer might not have mattered enough to the author of the piece considering they misspelled her name, “Stephanie”. {twilight lexicon}

It’s been a quite a while, but I’ve got some Jackson pic spam! These pictures are from Toronto International Film Festival where Jackson is premiering his new film Girlfriend on September 13th! {eclipsemovie}
