Happy Hunger Games! Vol. 2, Issue 26

ONLY 8 DAYS UNTIL MOCKINGJAY PART 2 IS RELEASED!!

We’ve got a ton of interviews, pictures, and premier shots for you. Are you psyched? Are you scared? Are you little sad? Me too!

This day has been coming for a long time and The Hunger Games series has meant so much to me. I got into the series back in 2009 and gobbled them up like it was my last meal.  I’ve thought of the books so often since then (at least once a week! LOL!) that I catch myself seeing real life events that seem so close to the book, I get a little panicked.  There’s a famous tumblr meme of different fandoms describing how they’d love to live in the world of their chosen obsession and the things they’d do there.  However, when they get to Hunger Games fans, we all say “Uh, No thanks. I’m good.”

Can you blame us? Who really wants to go to Panem? Who would voluntarily want to experience such oppression? The suppression, violence, the pain, the hunger, the destitute drudgery of it all. Yes, no thanks, I am good.

But there are so many times when I feel like I do live in Panem (remember when “If we burn, you burn with us” was scrawled on the walls in Ferguson?) and so many times where I feel like I live in The Capitol (honestly, the very idea of a Hunger Games theme park makes me eye twitch). In the U.S. and in developing countries, everyday people are living lives that mirror those lived in The Districts. The horrible exploitation and oppression of Panem and the indulgences of the ostentatious, entitled Capitol exist where we are.

If we’re lucky the revolution is just around the corner.

On to the fun!
