Tomorrowland

The world is going to end, and it’s going to be our fault. That’s the heavy-handed message at the center of Disney’s Tomorrowland. The film’s story might be a little on the abstract side, but its message is loud and clear.

Essentially the world’s most intelligent scientists and freethinkers have created an alternate world where they have developed technology beyond the impossible known as Tomorrowland. One such piece of technology allows them to see into the future where they discover that Earth has been destroyed at the hands of its citizens. Athena (Raffey Cassidy), a recruiter, along with inventor Frank Walker (George Clooney) believe that there is still hope that the world can be saved with the help of the brilliant and optimistic Casey (Britt Robertson). Together they hope to find a way to change the world before it’s too late.

QUALITY:
Tomorrowland looks great on Blu-ray, especially during the scenes that take place in the futuristic city of tomorrow. Jetpacks, rocketships, holograms, and androids are all beautifully detailed and really look like they’re taken directly out of a Disney theme park.

The Tomorrowland Blu-ray features a decent number of special features included on the disc, ranging from behind-the-scenes featurettes to deleted scenes. Three of the special features - two deleted scenes and one production diary - are exclusive to the Disney Movies Anywhere platform, but thankfully the Blu-ray includes a code that will give you access to the digital contents. The DVD only package features the least amount of special features, so obviously the Blu-ray is what you’ll want to go with for the fullest content.

Tomorrowland isn’t the heaviest of hitters from Disney, but it still has that spark of imagination the studio is known for. If you missed this one in theaters, it’s well worth picking up.
