Donald Glover's 'Atlanta' Begins Production; Cast Includes Brian Tyree Henry, Lakeith Lee Stanfield and Zazie Beetz

FX has announced that production is now underway for Donald Glover's new comedy series, Atlanta. Glover is the creator, writer and executive producer of Atlanta and will also star as Earnest "Earn" Marks, a loner who left the city of Atlanta only to return when the opportunity to manage his cousin's up and coming rap career arises.

Joining Glover are Brian Tyree Henry, Lakeith Lee Stanfield and Zazie Beetz. Brian will play Alfred Miles, Earn's rapper cousin looking to capitalize on his sudden fame. Lakeith plays Darius, Alfred's right-hand man and musical collaborator. Zazie stars as Van, a pragmatist caught up in a complicated relationship with Earn due to their daughter.

The series will begin shooting towards the end of July in Atlanta, GA. Hiro Murai, who worked with Glover's on his music video for Childish Gambino: Sober, will direct the pilot. Paul Simms and Dianne McGunigle will serve as executive producers.
