Spider-Man's Upcoming Solo Film Titled 'Spider-Man: Homecoming"

Marvel has announced the official title for Spider-Man's upcoming solo film that is slated for release in 2017. It will be called Spider-Man: Homecoming and is being directed by Jon Watts and starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May.

It's a fitting title as this will be Spider-Man's first film back under the umbrella of Disney and Marvel Studios. Sony Pictures Entertainment still own the licensing rights to Spider-Man in film, but they struck a deal with Disney to have a new iteration of Spider-Man appear as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tom Holland will be making his debut as the web slinger in Marvel's upcoming Captain America: Civil War on May 6. Fans have already gotten a glimpse of him and his new suit in the latest trailer for the film.

The Homecoming title could also tie into the fact that we're going to be seeing a much younger Peter Parker in his high school days. This will be the third it iteration of Spider-Man on screen and there have already been two origin stories. Homecoming will focus on an already established Spider-Man who is coming to terms with his powers in a high school setting.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released on July 7, 2017.
