Disney Casts Storm Reid as Meg Murry in 'A Wrinkle in Time'

Disney has cast 13-year-old Storm Reid as Meg Murry in their upcoming adaptation of Madeleine L'Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time

Reid will be playing Meg Murry, the smart yet awkward oldest child of Alex and Kate Murry and lead of the film. She joins a cast consisting of Oprah Winfrey (Ms. Which), Reese Witherspoon (Mrs. Whatsit) and Mindy Kaling (Mrs. Who). The film is being directed by Ava DuVernay (Selma) with a script written by Jennifer Lee (Frozen) and will begin production later this year.

"After an extensive search that spanned multiple dimensions, we're overjoyed to welcome Storm Reid to WRINKLE IN TIME as our beloved "Meg," DuVernay said. "Storm is a tremendously talented young actress who embodies the hopes, dreams and spirit of a character much loved by audiences worldwide for generations. I can't wait to work with Storm as we chronicle Meg's epic quest, alongside Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling as Mrs. Which, Mrs. Whatsit and Mrs. Who. Tesser well!"

Storm Reid made her theatrical debut in the Academy Award-winning 12 Years A Slave and has gone on to appear in American Girl: Lea to the RescueSleight, and in the upcoming A Happening of Monumental Proportions.
