James Earl Jones and Donald Glover Join Live-Action 'The Lion King'

James Earl Jones will reprise his role as Mufasa for Disney's upcoming live-action reimagining of The Lion King, Disney has announced. In addition, Donal Glover has been added to the voice cast as adult Simba, a role Matthew Broderick voiced in the original 1994 animated film.

The film will be directed by 2016's The Jungle Book director John Favreau and will be shot back-to-back with its sequel The Second Jungle Book. Jeff Nathanson is writing the script.

The Lion King is the latest live-action reimagining to be announced by Disney and follows in the footsteps of Maleficent, Cinderella, and the upcoming Beauty and the Beast which is scheduled for release on March 17. No release date for the film has been set.
