Kids today spend a lot more time using technology to keep themselves entertained. From playing on a computer to playing on a smart phone, that's the cool and fun thing for kids to do but there's a musician that wants to get kids interested in reading books and the way he does this is through songs. Mister G once did indie rock music but now creates music for children. His new album is called the Bossy E, eleven songs that try to impart on kids the importance and fun of reading books and being creative. The Bossy E takes beats of a rock song with lyrics that are fun and peppy so that kids can understand them and enjoy them.
I have to admit, and not because this is a review that I'm admitting this, but I actually enjoyed listening to the Bossy E. It's not the kind of kids music album that I thought it was going to be. Mister G has created kids songs that have everything a kids song needs to have, a story, fun beats, easy lyrics to learn, catchy beats, and are easy to sing along with. There's also the lesson that Mister G is trying to teach the kids about reading but he also has some fun and funny songs mixed in. One song is called “Daddy's Snoring” where, you guessed it, the lyrics are about the dad snoring makes it hard for people to sleep and even the neighbors hear him.
This is a funny album to listen to where it had me laughing while listening as well as doing a little singing along with it. Though it might be for kids it's still entertaining and I think adults can like listening to it along with the kids. Mister G has made his music stand out over most other kids music by having the beats and tempos of the songs set up like a rock/pop song. If the lyrics/vocals where taken away from these songs they could easily be a typical rock/pop song on the radio. Not that they need to be taken away because Mister G has a good voice that's easy to listen to. The Bossy E is just a lot of fun to listen to, the songs are smart and funny, and most importantly I think kids will really enjoy these songs.
