Interesting Tidbits

Dana Delany (Dr. Megan Hunt) is also the voice of Lois Lane in several DC Animated projects such as the Batman, Superman, and Justice League TV episodes and movies.

“Body of Proof” is a medical drama that revolves around medical examiner Dr. Megan Hunt (Dana Delaney) and her team at the Philadelphia County Medical Center as they solve crimes and criminal mysteries. The show is in its 3rd season and “Body of Proof” is shown on ABC every Tuesday at 10pm. Shakefire had the chance to watch and preview this week’s episode, “Lost Souls,” which will air this Tuesday, March 5, 2013. In this episode, a 17 year old female is dropped off at the City Center Clinic for a possible drug overdose. After being examined, there seems to be a lot more to this case than the obvious. The only way to find out what happens is to have to watch the episode yourself when it airs.

This episode felt like a bad roller coaster because I was expecting a lot more, but was unhappy with how everything was handled and presented. “Lost Souls” starts off with a lot of action and energy to a supposed big build up, but slowly tapers off to a disappointing conclusion. I thought this was an awesome premise for an episode, because it felt like a horror movie, but reality set in and the plot turned into a convoluted mess with all the unnecessary twists and turns. Also, the dialogue was horrible and the show’s pacing was so varied to the point that I lost interest after the first couple of scenes. In addition, the over-dramatic background music did not help ease the confusion or frustration because the show tries hard to be serious, but comes off being more silly than anything else.

Lastly, I was not a big fan of any of the characters on the show because of the bad acting or the over-acting. Dr. Hunt’s medical team seemed like bumbling fools that could not do anything on their own. Detective Tommy Sullivan seemed incompetent and insecure to the point that no one would ever be able to take him seriously as an actual officer of the law. The worst of them of all, and the star of the show, was Dr. Hunt. She follows the current trend of snobby and emotionally cold female leads that we have been seeing an overabundance of in today’s TV shows. There are too many shows similar to “Body of Proof” that I found it difficult to see how it would set itself apart from the pack. If you are looking for a less comedic or less interesting “Bones” or a watered down version of “House,” this is the perfect show for you, but I am giving this episode a “D.”
