In my review of Capital Cities' EP from late last year (http://shakefire.com/review/capital-cities-capital-cities-ep), I did my best to be as balanced as possible. I made it fairly clear how I feel about pop music in general and the Capital Cities brand of pop specifically. Now that the full album is here (and half of it is comprised of the same tracks that were on the EP), I'll just cut to the chase: I was bored almost the entire time that I spent listening to it. This is pop fluff, without much substance or weight. I don't have much patience for music like this. It feels generic and meaningless. I'm sure that makes me sound like an old codger, but when it comes to lame music, I don't mess around.

As I said in my review of the EP, I'm sure that there are plenty of people who will eat this up and good for them. In the grand scheme of things, this album feels pretty ephemeral, but maybe it'll be popular on the radio and in da clerbs for a while. Check it out if this sounds like something you'd enjoy, but otherwise, I'd give it a pass.
