Haunted Collector is a show that I’d seen maybe once or twice while staying at a hotel on the road. It was ignorable like all the rest so I never really committed any sort of opinion about it to memory. That being said, coming into this preview set of episodes was totally unbiased and from a fresh perspective, since the last time I had seen it was probably over a year ago. My thoughts?

Lead detective and “demonologist” John Zaffis is probably not the most ideal candidate to open the shows introduction, or for that matter, have a speaking role. It’s kind of hard since the show is centered around him, but he lacks any sort of personality whatsoever. I’m not knocking the guy for kicks, but if you’re the main star of a show, and your not being directed by George Lucas, you’ve got to have a bit more liveliness in your tone. It’s a straight monochromatic performance from Zaffis that is easily tiring.

The episodes found in my Season 3 preview disc include one where Zaffis and his crew head to Montgomery, New York to visit a ranch owner who has had unexplained animal death’s and possibly the spirit of the previous owner lingering on the farm. With strange noises, captured whispers, and more dead animals popping up throughout the episode, something was definitely up.

The crew then heads to Niagara Falls where they investigate The Echo Club, an establishment that has been standing for quite sometime. The owner of the club has seen and heard strange sounds, felt the presence of spirits, and has had customers also feel some strange presence looming in the place. Strange happenings occur while the team investigates. Paranormal? Possibly.

The show is titled Haunted Collector and the cast is a detective agency for all things paranormal, but this set of episodes were dry. Sure, some interesting things happened, but with the cast following in Zaffis’ footsteps with unenthusiastic dialogue and wooden reactions, you can’t help but feel this show is nothing but scripted. To make matters worse Zaffis and his people feel as if their clutching at straws. Their findings are beyond laughable and, what’s this show called, The Haunted Collector? If your stepping into Season 3 uninitiated you’re probably going to scratch your head and wonder if the title is some sort of misnomer. I give this one a pass and wonder how it ever reached a third season. Final judgment is yours.
