Incan Abraham’s debut LP, Tolerance, is more of a reflection on experiences then anything, in my book. Take the very first song for example, Midwife, a tale of a woman who came to the house and brushed hair and made beds and was generally there as a surrogate mother, or is looked back on fondly by the tune. Or Springhouse, another tune that speaks reminiscent about a warm place from the past.
The album sounds, to me, like a conglomeration of inspirations and idea’s put together at the hands of thankful, but obviously fully capable musicians. Coldplay can be heard in the mix right alongside Travis, The Police, Genesis, and Miike Snow. It makes the music absolutely accessible even when the lyrical travels off into more of an inside feel.
Vocals are fantastic with epic emotional ups and downs, fantastic cascades of chorus chants all delivered on a broad spectrum of ranges. Meanwhile music is simply pristine with a great mix giving you the full dose of everything going on within the album, even better with some great headphones. Drums are amazing, guitars range from indie cool to new wave mysterious. Bass isn’t just a steady backbone in the music either. Everything comes together within the process giving the album a full epic sound. Definitely something to check out. Enjoy.
