iZombie

iZombie is one of The CW’s newest series and is based on the Vertigo comic book by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred. Rob Thomas, who is most known as the creator of Veronica Mars, serves as its showrunner, and it stars Rose McIver as Liv, a medical resident who has recently become a zombie and is trying to figure out her new undead life.

The first season of iZombie is off to a solid start for a new show. It’s essentially Psych with zombies. Whenever Liv eats a brain she is able to have visions of that person’s experiences and also gains some of their talents as well. She uses her newfound abilities to help out the police with murder investigations. It’s a win-win situation for her. She gets easy access to all the brains she wants, and the police get their criminals.

QUALITY:
Unfortunately, iZombie: The Complete First Season is only available on DVD. It looks decent, but it’s still not the best quality. The show is very colorful, just like its comic book counterpart, and there are even transitional moments that are stylized like comic panels.

Deleted Scenes

There aren’t that many bonus features included on the DVD, which is a shame because the show is really good, and I would have liked to see more behind-the-scenes. Honestly, I would recommend skipping over the DVD and just watch the first season of the show on Netflix. The quality is better, and you’re not missing much in special features. Hopefully now that the show’s popularity has been established we’ll see a much more robust release for Season 2.
