Just For Today

I'm new to Laura Mann but unfortunately not new to her style of music. It's the usual singer/songwriter flare that includes lots of songs about love, it's ups and downs, but kind of fails to create a sense of individualism within the heart of the songs. Sure, everything sounds great. There is no lack of muscial no how found on the album, but it only reminds me of where we were with female singer and songwriters decades ago, or even in this day and age all singers and songwriters today.

I would compare her sound to acts like Lisa Loeb and or Natalie Merchant with that familiar practice of singer/songwriters dabbling in folk and country while sticking close to pop and rock. Again, not a bad thing, but it's mostly forgettable music that you'd throw on while cleaning the house or just trying to zone out. It doesn't lack enjoyment, but for me, when I see that someone has hired on a collective of people; Scot Sax (co-writer of Faith Hill & Tim McGraw's multi-Platinum "Like We Never Loved at All") and Lowen & Navarro, I feel like I'm being presented with an interpretation of music rather then something raw that I or anyone else whose lived can connect with.
