Mode Moderne is a New Wave Pop Rock Band from Vancouver. They released their new album “Occult Delight” on January 21st. This is their fourth album release and they have a huge following in Canada and Europe. I would say their sound is a mix between Depeche Mode and New Order. If you like New wave with a real 80’s vibe, “Occult Delight” is the album for you.

I loved the overall feel and vibe of the album because the music was current, but really brings you back to the 80’s. The instrumentals were great and kept the album moving at a great pace. The song lyrics were very elaborate and tell great stories, but lacked emotion. Also, I would have liked to hear if the vocalist had better range because he seemed to sing the same note throughout the whole album. My favorite songs on the album were “Baby Bunny” and “Time’s Up.” Regardless of the minor flaws in the album, this was a nicely orchestrated album and a treat for any New Wave fans looking for new bands. For those reasons, I am giving Mode Moderne’s “Occult Delight” a “B.”
