There are few television shows that immediately hook you in and keep you mesmerized for an entire year. Even fewer that do this with their debut season. Mr. Robot is one of them. The show, which follows a hacker named Elliot (Rami Malek) as he becomes entangled with secret revolutionist group whose goal is to eliminate society’s debt, is one of 2015 best programs on television. It’s grippingly good entertainment that explores the dark underground world of hacking. There’s no other show like it.

QUALITY:

The Blu-ray contains all 10 episodes of the first season and they look fantastic. The quality of television shows has gone way up in recent years, and Mr. Robot is a shining example of that. It looks like something you would expect to see from David Fincher. There’s a darkness to its color scheme that really brings out the shady undertones of what Elliot and the hacker group, fsociety, are doing. It’s coupled with a wonderful score that is sure to leave a lasting impression as well.

BONUS FEATURES:

  • Deleted Scenes
  • Gag Reel
  • M4k1ng_Of_Mr_R0b0t.mov

Even though the number of bonus features are sparse, the quality of them makes it all worth it. The deleted scenes are a nice little touch, the gag reel is a humorous addition to an otherwise series show, and the “Making Of” featurette is extremely informative. This is one of those shows where no amount of bonus features will be enough as you want to know absolutely everything that went into making it.

Navigating through the menus can be a little irritating as they’re not like your standard home media menus and use pictures for everything instead of words. I honestly wasn’t sure what some of the pictures were before clicking on them, but the menu’s aren’t too overly complex where you’ll get lost. It’s just different. Overall, Mr. Robot is a must-own series that is well worth purchasing on Blu-ray. This is one revolution you don’t want to miss.
