Nickelodeon releases Once Upon A Rhyme, a collection of your kids favorite Nickelodeon shows, each of them with a storybook theme. The shows include; Bubble Guppies, Team Umizoomi, The Fresh Beat Band, Dora the Explorer, Wonder Pets!, and Blue’s Room.

It’s been awhile since I’ve covered Children’s DVD’s so if you’re reading one of my reviews on Children’s DVD releases for the first time you should know I usually go by content. The simple fact is, most families have a television set, and almost all of them have Nickelodeon, so unless you’re busy, on the go people who need entertainment for your kids in the car or on a portable device, there really isn’t much point. Especially since wifi enables kids with wifi capable devices to access resources like Netflix or the companies own kids website. Fortunately, at this price ($12.29 Amazon), you get so much content for your buck.

Once Upon A Rhyme has two hours and twenty minutes of show on the disc and includes almost all of the Nickelodeon’s top shows. Keeping the disc themed also makes for a great collection. I know that some of the releases tend to see like they’re themed, but you always have that one or two episodes that are very loosely themed and drag the collection down a notch. Not with this one.

Included in the mix are retellings of The Three Little Pigs (Bubble Guppies, Dora The Explorer), Treasure Hunt (Team Umizoomi), The Royal Wedding (The Fresh Beat Band), and Wonder Pets! offering up their version of The Cow Jumped Over The Moon and another episode where they save a unicorn.

I found the episodes pretty entertaining and thought the amount of content included in the collection makes this a safe bet for purchase if you need something to keep the kids occupied in the car or visiting somewhere a television is not present.
