Before there was "Law & Order" or "Suits" or all of those other court room drama TV shows, there was "Perry Mason." This is the show that started it all 15 years ago. The show had a huge following and even won two Emmy awards. The show revolves around a district attorney named Perry Mason (Raymond Burr) and his interesting team to help solve cases and bring people to justice. "Perry Mason: Season 9 Volume 2" has the final 15 episodes of the season over 4 DVDs and with a viewing time of 13 hours.
My fondest memory of "Perry Mason" was spending the night at my grandparents' house as they watched the show in black and white as I fell asleep. That how "old-school" this show was and they actually had to make the conversion to color TV. I had not seen any of the later episodes and was surprised at how much Raymond Burr had aged. Regardless, even after 15 years, the excellent writing, that was ahead of its time, for the show was still just as good if not better than the earlier seasons. The acting was pretty good and the plot twist were unexpected and still unpredictable.
However, there were a few gripe I had with "Perry Mason: Season 9 Volume 2." For instance, the picture quality was a bit choppy, but it is on DVD and it was filmed in 1966. Also, it would have been nice if they included more extras. There was one featurette included and that was it. However, if you know anyone that was a fan of the show, "Perry Mason: Season 9 Volume 2" is the perfect show for them. The nostalgic feel is still there 47 years later and will bring a lot of people back to the 60's. For those reasons, I am giving "Perry Mason: Season 9 Volume 2" a "B-."
