If you are a guitar person then you should know the name Carlos Santana and John McLaughlin. Both men have been in the music buisness for many years and both are some of the best there is. On July 1, 2011 these masters of the guitar played together in Montreux, Switzerland to bring their talents to more people. Now on Blu Ray, this concert can be seen in some very high definition splendor. It's a beautiful concert to watch on Blu Ray where the colors are bright, the blacks are dark, and there is no noise to be seen. It also has a great audio track where I was able to hear the music clearly and without having to turn up the TV volume. This was one concert that I enjoyed a lot because of how good it looks and sounds on Blu Ray.
Though the look of this concert is not the only reason I enjoyed this Blu Ray. Carlos Santana has extreme talent for making an electric guitar do whatever he wants it do. Not only does this man know how to play the guitar like few others, he does it like it's nothing. John McLaughlin is no slouch either, this man is just as good with the 6 string instrument. So having both of these guys playing together was amazing to watch, though I would have loved to been there in person instead of watching in my room.
This music is really good, but if you are looking for a typical concert this would not be the one to go to. This is strictly a concert to listen to these two guys play their guitars and nothing else. Sure the rest of the members playing their instruments was good, great even, but it's Santana and McLaughlin that make the concert. But it's an unconventional concert where there's no real set or order to the songs being played. There's a mixture of some songs and genres where they go from a rock song like Stairway to Heave to playing a jazz song. As I said this is a concert that is meant for people to enjoy the guitar skills of Santana and McLaughlin and nothing else. It delivers, or I should say they do because this concert had my attention like most concerts on DVD/Blu Ray don't.
