The self description for Siiines up on their Facebook page describes the band as “If Motley Crue, David Guetta, Nirvana and Deadmau5 had an orgy SIIINES would be the DNA left behind”. I have to be honest, some of those elements were there on their latest EP, well as far as the electronic portion of the music goes, but I didn’t really feel that outburst of energy, attitude, or however else you could describe Motley Crue or Nirvana.

My first take on the album was that the band was going to have this Brokencyde feel to them on their starting track, “God I Hate Clubs”. My first go round with the track had me thinking the band was just glorifying the party scene but my second time around, listening to the words and not just the music (which sounds great) I realized the song is pretty much as the title suggests. Siiines goes on a rant about the music, the people, and the atmosphere of the club scene.

Whelps featuring Carol-Lynne Quinn is a, ironically, club worthy track with a good male/female tandem on vocals and some nice club grooves that make the song both danceable and or a romantic prelude.

Kanye West is the third song on the album and I just couldn’t get into it. I’m not Kanye West fan, but the lyrical on this track seems a bit forceful. The track is basically a dis towards West and his arrogance. It’s a thing I think all of us have done at some point but this approach comes off a bit too preachy.

Inhuman Behavior also comes off a bit too preachy for my liking. The music is decent, kind of retro sounding with a new polish finish on it, but the lyrical leave a lot of be desired.

Breathe closes out the album on a decent note. The track is pretty much radio friendly stuff that you’ll find on the current top 40. It’s basically safe. I don’t recall either Motley Crue or Nirvana being particularly safe, but I see what direction the band is going in on this track.

Overall the album has its high points and low points. From the sound of it they have the music down and their concepts lyrically are sound but need a bit more direction to help them come off more sincere. All in all not bad.
