The Essential Disney Collection

Complete with 20 of the best songs in Disney’s catalogue of movies spanning 25 years comes “The essential Disney collection.” Performed by various singers and stars of the London stage are some of the greatest and most memorable songs from Disney. They even went as far back as getting songs from “Mary Poppins” and “Pinocchio” to more modern-day hits such as “Frozen” and “Tangled.” If you are a true Disney fan, “The essential Disney collection” is definitely for you.
Most of the songs on “The essential Disney collection” brought back a lot of great memories from my family’s annual trips to Disneyland when I would younger. The vocals were very well done and sounded close to the movies. Even though the CD had a good variety of songs, I questioned some of the songs choices. “Snow White” was totally snubbed while there are 2 songs from “Mary Poppins,” “The Jungle Book,” and “Little Mermaid.” As a 32 year old Disney fan, I recognized most of the songs, but younger audiences will only keep certain songs on repeat. The song selection was not all bad, but could have been move varied.
Regardless, each song on this CD does its job of bringing a smile to your face whether you recognize the song or not. I caught myself several times singing along like I would when I younger during our road trips to Disneyland. That is what Disney is all about right? Making you smile as you reminisce about your childhood and passing on the magic to future generations. For those reasons, I am giving “The essential Disney collection” an “A-.”
