Steve Hunter’s latest album, The Manhattan Blues Project, is the result of a successful Kickstarter campaign and contributions from guest performers including Phil Aaberg, 2 Cellos, Marty Friedman, and even Johnny Depp. Obviously Steve Hunter is a respected musician in the blues community and after listening to the album, you’ll understand why.

The Manhattan Blues Project is a minimalist approach filled that’s pure acoustic bliss. Guitars, basses, and a few other string instruments fill the tracks with little interruption from vocals save for a few background lyrics. The emphasis is on the superb strumming and guitar solos that take over practically every track. Its subtle tone provides soothing music that’s pleasing to the ears. The tracks do tend to blend together a bit, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing since they’re actually good.

Steve Hunter demonstrates his gifted ability, and there’s also a ton of guest talent on The Manhattan Blues Project, so if you enjoy listening to good blues tunes, it’s worth picking up.
