SWF is the brainchild of musician Stevie Weinstein- Foner, an advocate for peace and a musician with a sound that cries nostalgic. From the Jesus and Mary Chain distortion infused vocals to the dream like Mazzy Star musical passages. Lyrically the album sounds 60’s inspired, if Elliott Smith and My Bloody Valentine were born in the 60’s. It was all very strange and oddly unique for me.

Another aspect of the album that really solidified it as one that I would more then likely revisit was the low-fi, almost garage recording process some of the songs represented. Off in the distance SWF can be heard singing his mantras while a loud, sometimes distorted sounding, and dreamy guitar would float over his voice. Meanwhile at the forefront would be this heavy presence of a kick bass and or hi-hat/tambourine. It was the huge presence of that percussion that made the songs sound urgent, epic almost. Maybe it’s just some engrained attraction for me, but the way the album sounds so raw and DIY really brought me back to it repeatedly, especially to the title track Let It be Told, which I found myself singing along with every time it came on. Or, to be honest, every time I found myself in the car and immediately forwarded it to that particular track, as I was hooked on singing along to the chorus. Well worth checking out.
