The Dude abides.

Shut the *%&$ up Donnie!

This isn’t ‘Nam, Dude, there are rules.

Nihilists? That must be exhausting.

The lines are legendary, the humor is witty and bizarre…The Big Lebowski is comedy as only the Coen Brothers can write it. It initially took me a couple of viewings to fully appreciate and get this movie. But once it clicked, boy did it ever click. It’s a testament to the strength of the writing and the cast that this is so rewatchable. Shoot, a whole festival has now been spawned out of this one movie. It’s one of my favorite comedies, no, one of my favorite films and I’m thrilled that it’s finally been released on Blu-Ray.

The video quality is solid. For the most part, Lebowski looks good on Blu-Ray. The audio track is also mixed well. On the whole, this is solid presentation and a great release.

The extra features include: a digital copy of the film, Lebowski trivia, a retrospective on the film, a look at Lebowski Fest, and a few featurettes on the making of the film. The digibook format is almost a bonus feature in and of itself. It’s packed with quotes, interviews and cool art.

Yeah, I’m a fan and unabashedly so. Lebowski’s a film that you either get or you don’t, but the good news is that it also grows on you with each passing viewing. Give it a shot and chances are good that you’ll be wanting to abide with the Dude and his pals before too long.
