The Spacepimps’ latest album, “Eternal Boy,” sounds like a throwback to the rock bands of the late 90s and early 2000s. The tracks are heavy on the electric guitar and drums, and they feature good lyrics that’ll get the blood pumping. The problem is it’s nothing new.

Eternal Boy sounds like any of the rock albums you listened to 10 years ago. Bands like Green Day or Blink 182 sound similar so if you enjoy that type of music, The Spacepimps are right up your alley. Even one of track, “Tradition,” has a rift that sounds awfully similar to Lit’s “My Own Worst Enemy.” At some point all they all start to sound like one continuous song. It’s not necessarily a bad thing as the music itself is good, but I would have liked to see some variety in the album. The Spacepimps seem like they’re playing it safe with Eternal Boy and I would like to see them take more chances. They clearly have the talent to do so.
