“Up all Night” made its television debut on NBC last season and received fairly good reviews. The comedy show is about a couple, Reagan (Christina Applegate) and Chris (Will Arnett), who have just become new parents and are trying to adjust to their new roles and major changes in their lives. Chris is a former lawyer, but now has to deal with being a stay-at-home dad. Reagan is the executive producer for her best friend’s show, Ava (Maya Rudolph), and has to get used to being back at work and being the sole “breadwinner” of the family. The season one DVD set include all 24 episodes of the show and some bonus content such as deleted and extended scenes and a music video from the show.

“Up all Night” is a funny show with a great cast that works well together and has a lot of chemistry. However, the show does have occasional cheesy moments that could have been left out to make the show more enjoyable. The situations on the show are relatable for most families and the jokes are not too over the top, which make them more believable. My favorite episode from this season would be “First night Away” because I know how difficult it is for parents to have a night out for themselves without having to worry about the kids. This show puts a comedic, but realistic, twist on this concept making it a memorable episode. Overall, I did enjoy watching this show, but there is still some room for improvement.

If you are a parent, especially new parents, I think this is the perfect show for you. There is a lot of good comedy in this show and the writing is good for the most part, but make sure to ignore the cheesy parts. However, I do not find this show appealing to younger audiences or single people, especially males, which have not yet started a family. Either way, I recommend checking this out or picking up “Up all Night: Season 1” to catch up because the show’s second just started. For those reasons, I am giving “Up all Night: Season 1” a “B.”
