Artist: The Mongoloids Album: Mongo Life Members: Greg, Brian, Joe, Kane, Adam Genre: Rock Label: Six Feet Under Records Tracks: 12 Type: LP Release Date: April 2, 2013 Rating: ( )Grade: C- The Mongoloids released their debut album in 2008 and committed themselves to a rigorous touring schedule to get to where they are today. After 2 full-length albums and EP, The Mongoloids are set to release “Mongo Life” in April 2013. They have already received a lot of praise from their fans and critics as well as respect in the Hardcore/ Metal community. Their new album can only further their established success and grow their fan base. The albums strong points were the instrumentals and the lyrics. The instrumentals make you feel like you are in a virtual mosh-pit. These guys know how to rock and are very talented with their instruments. As for their lyrics, they sang about a good variety of topics and properly mixed things up on this album. My favorite song on the whole album was “Mongo Life” because it was so unique from the other songs and slower than the rest of the album. However, I was not too pleased with the vocals on this album. I know vocal range and vocal clarity are not always on the top of the priority list on most Metal albums, but I was expecting something different from The Mongoloids. They did such a good job on the “Mongo Life,” I was hoping they would have more songs like it on this album to set them apart from other Metal bands. These guys are talented and this was a pretty good album, but if they were clearer, I would have understood their message and connected with the album better. For those reasons, I am giving this albume a ‘C-.” |
