The 80's gave us 3 big moments, we lost 7 astronauts, oil spills out in Alaska, and movies that defy logic. Movies that came out during the 80's are unlike any others with plot lines that are over the top, most of them not even making any sense, and acting that is just as over the top as the plot lines. Two examples of these movies are Hardbodies and Hardbodies 2 and they both hold true to the 80's format for movies. These movies give the view 3 things, breasts, bad acting, and breasts. Oh, did I say breasts twice, that's cause I meant to and by the time you get a half hour into the movie you will realize why I have put it down twice. But let me get into talking about the movies themselves.
In the first movie, Hardbodies, the movie is set on a beach where there are gorgeous people everywhere, mainly women, otherwise known as hardbodies, all going around in very small bikinis. While trying to just live his happy surfer boy life Scotty Palmer (played by Grant Cramer) while also being with his girlfriend Kristi (played by Teal Roberts), he finds himself getting a new job. That job would be helping out 3 middle-aged men, who are rich and now living in the best house on the beach, score with the beautiful hard body women of the beach. The acting in this movie was just horrible and what's worse is the plot or the lack of plot the movie has. At the start, the movie seems like it will be a typical 80's movie where the main actor runs into a little trouble and must find a fast way to solve the dilemma. But I quickly found out that the real plot of the movie was to show the breasts of as many women as could be possible.
Through the miracle of the 80's, a sequel was wrote and made, Hardbodies 2. Here the plot has become even less important, the acting went from horrible to just people reading lines, and the showing of even more breasts. Here in this movie the character Scotty Palmer (now played by Brad Zutaut) is an actor in a film that is being made in the Greek Isles. That's about as much of the plot that I could make out that could be called an actually plot. For what was left over, the character seems to be trying to deal with a bad relationship while meeting a new possible love in Cleo (played by Fabiana Udenio). What I found funny with this movie was how the acting in real movie was just as corny as the acting being done in the film being made as part of the story line. That feeling however don't last too long before I was just wanting the movie to be over with.
I think the reason that these 2 movies were able to make it is because it was done in the 80's. For whatever reason people had back during that decade, having movies that are just an hour and a half excuse to have topless women was acceptable. This would not pass for a movie with the viewers of today, we actually want a plot that makes sense and acting that is good. But I can't say all bad things about these movies because if it were not for this style of movies being made in the 80's and early 90's then we wouldn't have the slap stick comedies that are being made now. Aside from that there's not much else about these movies that are good. Even with all the beautiful women running around in these 2 movies it's really not worth watching them. If you are looking to see topless women then you can still see that in some of the movies being made now but with these movies you will at least get a better plot and possibly better acting, though there are still some of today that rank with Hardbodies 1 & 2. Now if you actually want a movie that will make you laugh, has actors that do a good job, and a plot that is actually there and makes sense then you need not look here at these 2 movies.
