Title: Sleepwalk With Me Genre: Comedy Starring: Mike Birbiglia, Lauren Ambrose Director: Mike Birbiglia Studio: MPI Home Video Runtime: 90 minutes Release Date: December 18, 2012 Format: BLU-RAY Discs: 1 MPAA Rating: Rating: ( )Grade: D- “Sleepwalk with Me” was written and directed by Mike Birbiglia and the movie is based on his off-Broadway show and book. Mike also stars in the movie and he plays a struggling comedian named Matt with serious commitment issues and a problem with sleepwalking. His poor long-time girlfriend, Abby (Lauren Ambrose), has to deal with all of this while working as a vocal coach. The movie won “Best of Next: Audience Award” at the Sundance Film Festival in 2012 and it was chosen as an official selection at numerous film festivals this past year. “Sleepwalk with Me” tells the story in a documentary style format. The movie felt like a long-winded “Seinfeld” episode, but it was not as funny. The plot was very predictable and relatable for most men going through a mid-life crisis. Overall, I thought the movie was pointless and anti-climactic. The jokes in the movie were dry and far from funny. For a supposed comedic movie, I did not find it funny at all. Matt was a loser that ended up not gaining anything by the end of the movie, but I always felt so bad for Abby. I would have rather seen a movie about her story because I thought it would have been a lot more interesting. However, they did include a good amount of bonus footage, but it was not enough to salvage this train wreck. When this movie wasn’t putting me to sleep, I was hoping Matt would learn something valuable, but he never did. This movie was a waste of time and I do not in any recommend watching it. Abby was the only saving grace, but she was not enough to save the movie either. For those reasons, I am giving this movie a “D-.” |

Hated It
I watched this on Netflix after seeing the trailer for it on another IFC film. I wanted it to be great, funny. It was not. The main character is so unlikable and his stand up was terrible from first to last. There was just nothing about the film that I liked other then his sleep walking mishaps. Complete garbage. Don't waste your time.
