Title: The New Daughter Genre: Horror Starring: Kevin Costner, Ivana Baquero, Gattlin Griffith Director: Luis Berdejo Studio: Anchor Bay Runtime: 109 minutes Release Date: May 18, 2010 Format: BLU-RAY MPAA Rating: Rating: ( )Grade: A- Kevin Costner stars in this creepy horror based on the short story by the same name. When John James moves into a new house with his two kids, Louisa and Sam, weird things start to happen. Louisa, played by Ivana Baquero (Pan's Labyrinth), begins to act stranger than normal after spending time around a nearby mound. Turns out, it's an old Indian burial mound and let's just say the dead don't quite want to stay that way for long. The film had a brief theatrical release back in December and is now making it's way to DVD and Blu-ray. It's actually quite good and pretty freaky which makes me wonder why it was such a limited release. Then again, it's also Spanish director Luis Berdejo's debut so that might have been a big enough risk. QUALITY: BONUS FEATURES: While the Blu-ray doesn't include any special aside from the usual bonus features you find with any release these days, the film itself is the star of the show. Whether you own this on Blu-ray or DVD you won't be disappointed. |
