Title: Land of the Lost Genre: Comedy Starring: Will Ferrell, Anna Friel, Danny McBride, Leonard Nemoy Director: Brad Silberling Studio: Universal Runtime: 101 Minutes In Theatres: June 5, 2009 MPAA Rating: Rating: ( )Grade: C- Random Trivia In Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001), Will Ferrell's character, Marshall Willenholly, was named for the first line of the theme song to the original TV series "Land of the Lost" (1974), which names the three main characters: "Marshall, Will, and Holly". In this movie, Will Ferrell plays the first of those characters, Dr. Rick Marshall.~IMDB Shamed scientist Dr. Rick Marshall (Will Ferrell) is given the motivation he needs by beautiful young scientist Holly Cantrell (Anna Friel) to follow his dreams and find a time warp to another dimension. Along the way the duo meet Will Stanton (Danny McBride), a firework salesman who gets pulled into the expedition and finds himself and the others in the land of the lost (you like what I did there huh?). Where to begin? Well for starters this is going to be pretty much the same stuff I say about almost all of Will Ferrell’s films. Its just Will Ferrell being Will Ferrell. His means of comedic performance are pretty much that of a child (which could be why he is often referred to as the “Man Child"); he’s loud, sometimes obnoxious, and you can only really get him to calm down for a second if you give him a chuckle. It’s a constant feeling of having the kitchen sink thrown at you even though nothing really hits. Danny McBride is pretty much the same kind of comedian. Anna Friel, for the most part, is an interesting touch as she loses her faux American accent we have seen her use in her (now cancelled) show Pushing Up Daisies. And of course there is Chaka who induces mild chuckles but just comes off a bit lame. If your looking for those things that usually consist in a film; story, flow, acting, sense, your going to be sadly disappointed. At best the film comes off like a variety show act. You get skits here and there that, on their own, are funny but all together as a whole don’t add any depth to the film. The effects for the film are nothing new. If you’ve seen Journey to the Center of the Earth then you’ve seen this film. Worse still is the level of inappropriateness in a film derived from a family show. Nothing new. If you’ve got to see it I would highly suggest a DVD rental. If you can’t wait just remember you have been warned. |

Suck it up *9?!!! whatever@@@
Good laughs and good times… very predictable lines as Will Ferrell's other movies but he always pulls if off with his cute personality! I almost chocked at his book title at the end of the movie… got to watch it to find out ;-) It is for suckers onle'
Not the best!
This movie had quite a few laughs, but overall this is best left to $1 DVD rentals or HBO/Showtime. I would not recommend spending hard earned money on this one.
Funny!
I saw the premier last night and I thought it was hilarious. I love Will Ferrell so I def would recommend this to others. I am not sure if it was super funny b/c everyone in the theater was laughing their heads off. Laughing is contiguous. There are some silly parts and you are kind of just like WTF, but then there are fun, whitty comments.
Land of the Lost
The movie was terrible.
good for laughs
The props are based on the original Land of the Lost. This was a funny version of the show. This show is good for many laughs.
Land of the Lost
This movie is rather boring. Kids may find it more entertaining because of the dinosaur stuff. This is probably the worst of Will Ferrell's movies. I'm glad that the movie's duration is 1h30m and not any longer.
Land Of The Lost
If you are a fan of Ferrell's comedy, then you'll enjoy this film. If you've never been a fan of his obnoxious ways, then you'll feel as though you've wasted 90 minutes of your life. Personally, the pacing was on point and I thought it was a decent flick.
This movie is best left in the land of the lost
There are some jokes here and there, but overall, the story is crazy and boring. It feels like miscellaneous episodes of Doctor Who thrown together.
Land Of The Lost
Didn't care for this one. Will Ferrell always seems to try to hard to be funny and thats what always kills it for me.
Totally Sucked!
Hated it! Ruin a wonderful childhood tv show.
NOT GOOD!
This was NOT a good movie! I love Will Ferrell but this was not a good movie!! It had a few laughs here and there but it's definitely not worth paying to see.
Land of the Losers
I love Will Ferrell. However, he could not really help this film. The best part of the movie was Will. The plot was unforgetable. I was at the premiere. I would wait for the DVD
