Title: The Informant Genre: Comedy Starring: Matt Damon, Scott Bakula, Joel McHale, Melanie Lynskey Director: Steven Soderbergh Studio: Warner Bros. Pictures Runtime: 108 minutes In Theatres: September 18, 2009 MPAA Rating: Rating: ( )Grade: B While it might sound a little ridiculous, The Informant is actually based on a true story. Mark Whitacre was a high ranking employee at AMD who wound up becoming an informant for the FBI in one of the largest price fixing conspiracies in America. Mark (Matt Damon) had everything going for him. He had a wonderful family, a great job, and was financially secure. Then, all of a sudden, things started to spiral downward once the FBI got involved with his company. He ends up telling them about their price fixing meetings, thinking that that will be the end of it, but gets caught up in gathering evidence against the top executives. This leads to the uncovering of some dirty little secrets. The Informant feels exactly like Burn After Reading. It features quirky characters that live rather dull and normal lives until something major happens. Matt Damon is probably one of the weirdest characters you’ll meet on screen. Throughout the film, he has a running dialog in his head about the most random things. Some of what you hear is absolutely hilarious. It captures the bipolar aspect of his character perfectly. I was somewhat disappointed with Joel McHale. He is isn’t funny at all and tries to play a more serious role than I’ve ever seen him in. The film tends to focus on Whitacre most of the time so anything you get from other characters is usually a response or reaction to something he does. If you can get past its quirky and odd behaviors, The Informant is simply a fun film to watch. Don’t go in expecting something deep and mind blowing; just sit back and enjoy it. It's difficult to believe that this is actually a true story, ridiculous as things play out.

not a suggested movie
This was long movie with a very dry scence of humor. I would tell anyone to see this movie if you are in the mode for a good comedy.
