Twin Forks is an alternative folk band that came together to perform for one festival, but loved working together so much they released a whole album. The band is compromised of Dashboard Confessional vocalist Chris Carrabba, Suzie Zeldin from The Narrative, Ben Homola from Bad Books, and Jonathan Clark. Twin Forks is full of so much talent and sound great together. Their full length self-titled album is set to be released on February 25th and Shakefire had a chance to review it before its public release.

I can honestly say that I am in no way a fan of Folk music, but this album hooked me in right from the beginning. The instrumentals were folky, but with a more mainstream vibe giving it more general appeal. Also, having Chris on vocals gave the overall album the slight alternative edge, which I loved. He was already one of my favorite vocalist to begin with, but seeing him in a different light really worked to his advantage. The only gripe I had were hot predictable the lyrics were. Other than that, they songs were nicely varied and the album as a whole was very well done. My favorite songs were “Cross my Mind” and “Back to You.”

It was difficult to tell that this was the debut album from Twin Forks. It felt like they have been jamming for years and are pros in the folk genre. I was more than impressed with this album and cannot wait to see what they come out with next. Whether you are a fan of folk music of not, I recommend checking out this album. For those reasons, I am giving this album an “A.”
