Written by Matt Rodriguez

The main Stranger Things series may be coming to an end with Season 5, but as the Duffer Brothers announced a little over a year ago “there are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things.” It has now been revealed that Netflix is developing an animated series set within the world of Stranger Things.

The Duffer Brothers will serve as executive producers with Eric Robles and Flying Bark Productions joining the production. The studio is behind animated films and series including Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie, Moon Girl and Devil DinosaurGlitch Techs, and Maya the Bee.

“We’ve always dreamed of an animated ‘Stranger Things’ in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling,” the Duffer brothers said in a statement. We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with — the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues…”

No other details have been revealed about the Stranger Things animated series. In addition to the animated series, there is also a live-action spinoff and stage show currently in the works under the Duffer Brothers’ Upside Down Pictures production company. The fifth and final season of Stranger Things is currently in production with filming set to begin next month in Atlanta, GA. The first of eight episodes has been revealed as “Chapter One: The Crawl.”
