Skydance New Media have revealed the trailer for the studio’s first video game, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. The story trailer showcases the video game’s four playable characters including Captain America and Black Panther alongside U.S. soldier Gabriel Jones and Wakandan spy Nanali.
As the title suggests, Rise of Hydra takes place during 1943’s World War II in an occupied Paris, France. While most Marvel fans are familiar with Steve Rogers as Captain America, the game introduces us to a more unfamiliar Black Panther, Azzuri, who is the grandfather of the more recognizable T’Challa that we know from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The game is described as a narrative-drive action-adventure game and will be released sometime in 2025. Check out the trailer below.
The cast of the game includes Khary Payton as Azzuri, Drew Moerlein as Steve Rogers, Megalyn Echikunwoke as Nanali, and Marque Richardson as Gabriel Jones. In addition, Lyne Renée plays Julie, a key ally in the French Resistance, and Joel Johnstone joins the cast as Howard Stark.
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is the first game set for release from new studio Skydance New Media and is being led by veteran video game writer and director Amy Hennig. She is known for her work with developer Naughty Dog on the original Uncharted trilogy as the creative director and writer. In addition to Rise of Hydra, Skydance New Media is also working on an unannounced game set within the Star Wars universe with Lucasfilm Games.
