FX has renewed critical darling Justified for a fourth season. The network said Tuesday that it has picked up the Timothy Olyphant drama for 13 episodes. More than halfway through its third season, the series is averaging 4.3 million viewers -- up 8 percent year-over-year -- and 2.1 million in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic (also up 8 percent vs. Season 2). When factoring in replays, the third season is averaging 7 million total viewers and 3.4 in the all-important demo. “Justified is one of television’s best series, and this season has reinforced that excellence,” FX exec vp original programming Nick Grad said in announcing the pickup. “Graham Yost and his writing team continue to deliver compelling material and richly drawn characters brought to life by the brilliance of Timothy Olyphant and our terrific ensemble cast. Their work is validated by universal acclaim, awards and ratings that have grown every year. We look forward to many more seasons to come.” The series joins a roster of original programming at the male-skewing cable network that includes dramas Sons of Anarchy and American Horror Story. Justified, co-starring Walton Goggins, Nick Searcy, Jacob Pitts, Erica Tazel, Joelle Carter and Natalie Zea, will air its third-season finale April 10. Yost developed the series, based on the book by Elmore Leonard, for FX. |
