Meeting of Important People

Meeting of Important People

Meeting of Important People is an indie pop band from Pittsburgh, PA.

The band’s debut single “Mothers Pay More” ignited a media and blogging frenzy in 2008, and their subsequent debut album on the Authentik label has been named a top release by several blogs and radio stations, including influential station WYEP-FM. MOIP's follow-up EP release “Quit Music", a pleasant little collection of creepy suburban indie-pop songs, now has even more folks listening intently worldwide, and the band is planning the recording of a 2nd full-length album for 2012, an eclectic mix of new songs chock-full of twists and turns.

You are from Pittsburgh but have a lot of British influences to your music. Was that a conscious decision or did it just kind of happen organically?

When i was younger, i wanted very much to sound like my favorite british invasion bands. my dad loved that music, and it became some of my favorite as well in my teens and early twenties... as the years went on, it became less a conscious decision and more a kind of style that i naturally fell into.

Your video for "Brittney Lane Don't Care" garnered viral comparisons to OK Go videos. Are offbeat and creative videos going to play a large part in your music going forward ?

We could never compete with OK Go, but i studied cinema at Ithaca College and love offbeat videos. Have you seen the Battles video for ICE CREAM?
