Interesting Tidbits

The scene where Ted is a guest star on "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson" was originally shot in 1984 and the original guest was Emmanuel Lewis.

In short, “Ted” is about a man named John (Mark Wahlberg) and his teddy bear named Ted (Seth McFarlane). As a kid, John did not have any friends and wished Ted became real so they could be best friends for life. Magically, John’s wish came true, but they both grew up and John’s girlfriend, Lori (Mila Kunis), complicated things for the two friends. As cute and cuddly as Ted appears to be, this is in no way a children’s movie. This movie is strictly for adults, is full of raunchy jokes and visuals and has got to be one of the funniest movies I have seen all year long.

I am a big fan of Seth MacFarlane’s unique humor in his animated TV shows, such as “Family Guy” and “American Dad,” but I thought he brought everything to the next level on “Ted.” This movie was his first live-action project and I thought he did an excellent job writing, directing, and starring in the movie. The jokes and a majority of the scenes might be a bit too much for some people, especially the younger and older generations, to handle, but would appeal more to general audiences with a sense of humor. Seth is an equal opportunity joker and no one is safe from being talked about in this movie. The plot and the comedy was well thought out and this movie has a lot more to it than meets the eye.

All of the characters were perfectly cast and there were so many memorable one-liners in the movie and awkward scenes. I also enjoyed all of the surprise cameos made throughout the movie that were strategically placed. They also included a lot of bonus footage such as deleted scenes and a gag reel. This was a hilarious movie that I highly recommend watching, just not with your kids or your grandparents, and buying for yourself this holiday season. I want a Ted of my own, but one that would not cause me as much trouble. For those reasons, I am giving this movie an “A.”
