Sam Tyler is a detective in 2008 trying to find his kidnapped fiancé before it is too late. While searching the city Sam is hit by a car and when he comes to he is still a detective but it is 1973. As he tries to make sense of everything Sam can’t help but to solve cases and come up with theories as to what is happening to him. At first he believes that perhaps he is in a coma and will just have to wait it out; but then odd things start happening and Sam begins to think that it is much more than just a coma.

Starting out I thought the show was entertaining; they came up with a creative way of basically bringing back the 70’s cop show. At times I grew bored of Sam mentioning something in the future and people looking at him funny. Come on you are a cop and you don’t know how to keep your thoughts to yourself? But overall the crimes, the lack of political correctness, the cars, the clothes, etc. kept me interested. The acting is also engaging; the banter between Michael Imperioli, Jason O’Mara, and Harvey Keitel can be hilarious. Then it starts to turn from cop drama to sci-fi, sure there are hints from the beginning; but it starts to take over the show. It is just an odd transition IMO and I’m sure it lost some viewers. With the sci-fi storyline come in the special effects which are weak and dreadful looking.

I have never seen the British series so I have no idea if this ends the same as that one. But I have to say the ending was rushed and ridiculous. Sure there were signs but that doesn’t mean that this is the best way to end the show. It is one of those WTF moments; but not in that “Lost” good way. Instead it is in that head shaking, eye rolling, turn off the TV and not come back way. It’s not surprising to me that this series is over.
