“I always knew I’d go back to singing,” says Katrina about her return to music. After nearly a decade away, she reached out to the vocal coach she’d worked with as a kid growing up in the San Fernando Valley and essentially picked up where she’d left off. “It was an escape from the books, and I guess I used it as therapy, as an outlet. When I think about it now, I’m not surprised – I’d never really said goodbye to music.”

This decision, which has led to the release of Katrina’s debut album, In the Blink of an Eye (Red Red Records), may have been simmering for a decade, but it was made in a flash. The phrase “in the blink of an eye” is from the song “Taken.” “That lyric evokes so many emotions for me, visuals of moments in my life,” Katrina continues. “The songs on this album are like snapshots – click, and those moments are frozen in time. They’re what you remember; they’re what inspire me to write.”
