Evil comes home to roost as unstoppable killer Michael Myers (Tyler Mane) pursues injured Laurie Strode (Scout Taylor-Compton) through Haddonfield's hospital.
One of the worst movies ever made. Horrible direction, bad editing, badly shot, so many dark out of focus shots, plus a story that was not scary but just plain strange. Plus the acting was the pitts. How this movie was greenlit is beyond belief.
Ditto to edmia, but it seems to me that Rob Zombie just missed the mark on this one.
The biggest principal error was the noise that Michael made once he started his slay fest. One of the coolest things that made Halloween chilling was the fact that Micky was a silent, menacing killer. The unflinching ease with which he executed was supposed to terrify viewers and leave us with a sense of foreboding. Previous Michaels were so coldly insensitive to their slaughters; it was like buttering toast or slicing bread; and this Michael should have been just as silent.
This 2009 Michael made too many grunting noises; it made me think that he not only wanted to make his victims pay, but that he was sadly out of shape. Michael doesn't care or at least he isn't suppose to. He is just leaving his mark. My impression was that he felt too much and the entire racket just proves he became too emotional. He would have said so much more through absolute silence.
The plotline with its dreamy flashbacks was slightly disconnected and hindered too much on a sick little boy when it should be concentrating on the demented man. As with previous Halloween versions, the romantic in me wanted to believe that the tall, dark, powerfully built and sadistic killer; savored every knife thrust. He would watch from a far, pinpoint the next fatality, and with precision stalking and catlike prowess, slash out a reminder that he would always return. Now what person wouldn’t want to be slaughtered by this man?
It’s the occurrence of Halloween when children get scared but it’s Halloween which ought to frighten adults. Don’t waste your time with this one. This movie failed to deliver chills on either end. Believe me; you can probably think up better fantasies than what Zombie created here on film.
