MTV Movie Awards Nominations Revealed

With awards season over, Oscar heavyweights and box-office juggernauts will vie for the top prizes at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards.

After coming up empty-handed at the Academy Awards, Paramount's The Wolf of Wall Street with Leonardo DiCaprio and Columbia's American Hustle featuring a top-billed cast will have another shot at taking home hardware at the April event, leading the pack with eight nominations apiece. Following close behind is box-office smash The Hunger Games: Catching Fire with seven nominations and the Jennifer Aniston-Jason Sudeikis comedy We're the Millers with six.

Best picture Oscar winner 12 Years a Slave, the Anchorman sequel, Dallas Buyers Club, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and This Is the End each received four nominations.
Late-night host Conan O'Brien will lead the annual ceremony, which will be broadcast live from L.A. Live's Nokia Theatre on April 13 at 9 p.m. PT/ET on MTV. Often serving as a kick-off to the summer movie season, the MTV Movie Awards are voted on by the fans. (Voting for most of the categories takes place at www.MovieAwards.MTV.com through April 12, while voting continues during the show for Movie of the Year.)

Several major categories have a heavy Oscar presence, with 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle and The Wolf of Wall Street vying for the top Movie of the Year award against The Hobbit and Catching Fire. Best female performance pits four Oscar nominees (Amy Adams, Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Lawrence and winner Lupita Nyong'o) against We're the Millers' Jennifer Aniston. The same goes for best male performance with four nominees (DiCaprio, Bradley Cooper, Chiwetel Ejiofor and winner Matthew McConaughey) competing against Catching Fire's Josh Hutcherson.

The MTV Movie Awards also keeps true to its pop culture roots with categories like best scared-as-shit performance (Rose Byrne, Jessica Chastain, Vera Farmiga, Ethan Hawke and Brad Pitt are nominated), best shirtless performance (Aniston, Sam Claflin, DiCaprio, Zac Efron and Chris Hemsworth are nominees) and best musical moment (This Is the End, American Hustle, The Wolf of Wall Street, Identity Thief and We're the Millers). Signature best kiss category pits Lawrence and Adams' American Hustle liplock against Joseph Gordon-Levitt/Scarlett Johansson (Don Jon), James Franco/Ashley Benson/Vanessa Hudgens (Spring Breakers), Shailene Woodley/Miles Teller (The Spectacular Now) and Aniston/Emma Roberts/Will Poulter (We're the Millers).

Perhaps the oddest combination of people goes to best cameo where Robert De Niro will go up against dynamic duo Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, Kanye West, Joan Rivers and Rihanna. Another notable nomination includes a posthumous one for Paul Walker in best on-screen duo (shared with Vin Diesel).

Jesse Ignjatovic, Lee Lodge and Jen Jones serve as executive producers with MTV's Garrett English. Wendy Plaut is co-executive producer and executive in charge of celebrity talent, with Amy Doyle as executive in charge of music and celebrity talent. Joanna Bomberg is executive in charge of music talent.
