Alfonso Cuarón's Gravity, the sci-fi drama starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock, is scheduled to be released on October 4, 2013. The Warner Bros. film was originally set to open on November 21, 2012 but was taken off the calendar to allow more time for post-production, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Gravity is about two astronauts, played by Clooney and Bullock, drifting alone in space after their shuttle is destroyed. They lose contact with Earth, lose what little oxygen they have left with each breath and their only choice is to drift further into space. Cuarón ultimately decided on Bullock for the physically demanding part of Dr. Ryan Stone after considering many of Hollywood's top actresses for the role. The film will also be up against other films being released the same day. They include the Vince Vaughn comedy The Delivery Man, the Liam Hemsworth/Gary Oldman thriller Paranoia, the 3D re-release of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, and the sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, reports Collider. Gravity is set to be released in 3D and in IMAX theaters and was written by Cuarón and his son, Jonas.
